Parsec on ipad pro9/24/2023 ![]() ![]() You can use Adobe fresco if you need a touch experience + Stylus and it does most of the stuff you probably want. Professional work needs a keyboard or a similar device for shortcuts. Photoshop isn't designed for tablets and it shouldn't. You might get 2 "good" experiences, but that isn't actually the same as "good enough", because you want 2 great experiences to be worth using a thing in that way. Jack of all trades, master of none, just doesn't tend to result in great outcomes most of the time. If that worked, it would cause your Surface input to behave very much like a tablet plugged into the machine I think.Įither way, doing this is sort of a convergence type approach (in this case, using a tablet capable PC as just a drawing table and as a PC), in my experience tends towards it resulting in sub-par experiences for all the use-cases the convergence device is trying to handle, which is why I think it's generally not done. I don't remember if the Surface touch input presents as a USB/hid device, if it does, you could maybe try grabbing the input through the use of a network USB tool like and transferring it to the desktop. But it would be odd in that you'd probably be using the keyboard and mouse on the Surface as well, unless they let you be selective about which inputs to transfer, but it seems unlikely. Maybe drop them an email and ask if it'll work that way. Even if it does, I'm not sure though if it will properly transfer stylus input, and at the level of precision the stylus is providing. It might work, since the stylus is an input device, so maybe it'll recognize it as a mouse of sorts. Which is a virtual KVM(keyboard/video/mouse) product. That said, you could try something like this: ![]() Sharing just devices across computers isn't itself odd though, and can be accomplished in a few different ways, although trying to use a stylus input is an interesting use case I haven't really seen/thought about before. Here are some more tablets tips and apps.Įh.using an entire computer as just the input device for another seems a little esoteric to me- kind of a maybe you can do it, but you probably don't really want to most of the time. If it still crashes, then try manually updating the Intel Graphics Drivers to the latest ones. Maybe you should use an app that's specifically designed for drawing and painting on tablets, such as Adobe Fresco.Īnd if you absolutely insist on using desktop apps with touch, then check out Tablet Pro.ĭid you fully finish Windows update, and reboot when it asked to, and let it finish indexing? Also, did you set the display to a proper refresh rate for low latency inking? Seems like an obvious function to put in since Microsoft is in control of both the surface and windows.īut there is no proper official way to do this? That runs about as smooth or even better than running photoshop directly on the surface. I can do that with my m1 Mac and the iPad. I have good desktop pc, is there no way I can use that to do the computing and use the tablet as an input? It’s definitely not snappy and some of intense operations (like object selection )outright crashes photoshop. The other thing is that it really is struggling to run it really well. Is there a way to make it more intuitive? Like putting a floating modifier button? The gui interface is not really great for touch controls. Now when I have had it for a couple of days I have found that it’s not as great as I had hoped. The idea of being able to run “real photoshop” directly on a tablet was really tempting. The intention is to use for drawing and and designing as well as surfing and streaming. ![]() With zero on hands experience I pre ordered a surface pro 9 with i7 with the intention of really trying it out if suits me, and if not planning to use the 60 days return policy. As for the Pro line have no need for a M2 chip if I still only can run the AppStore apps. I found the current iPad lineup particularly costly and underwhelming. Since my first gen IPad Pro has reached maturity and beyond I had to replace it. ![]()
